Applicant Portal
This is where you will apply to the IHEABATA Education Empowerment and Development Fund, track your application, and manage your bursary once it is awarded. It is not open yet. This page sets out exactly what it will do, what you can prepare in the meantime, and how you will know the day it opens.
What is coming
The portal is being built as one system with four entrances — one for people applying, one for returning, one for students already funded, and one for the secretariat that runs the cycle.
Your first step, and it takes about ten minutes. You will give your name, email address and telephone number, and confirm your email. From that moment you can begin an application and leave it in draft for as long as the window is open.
For returning applicants and funded students. Sign in to continue a draft, upload a document the Verification Desk has asked for, check where your application has reached, or read your decision when it is issued.
For students the trust already funds. Your award letter, your semester results, your renewal each July, and a direct line to the Student Liaison — the person whose job is to notice early when something is going wrong.
The control room for the people who run the cycle. Not open to applicants — described here because a trust that asks families for documents owes them an account of who handles those documents and how.
Until now, applying meant paper, WhatsApp messages and hoping the right person saw your file. The portal replaces that with one route in that everybody can see — the same form, the same requirements and the same visible progress for every applicant, whether or not they know anyone.
The process
Four stages. You will be able to see which one you are in, at any hour, without writing to ask.
About ten minutes
Create your account and verify your email. You may then begin an application and return to it as often as you need while the window is open.
About an hour, documents ready
Four sections — personal details, origin, academic record and financial circumstances — and five documents. Submit before the window closes; a draft left unsubmitted is not carried forward.
Four to six weeks
Your admission is confirmed with your institution and your origin with your town union, and need is assessed privately. Being asked for one more document is routine and means nothing either way.
By the published date
Every applicant receives a written decision — successful or not. Refusals carry a reason, because most refusals are correctable before the next cycle.
Meanwhile
The applicants who finish quickly are the ones who assembled their documents before the window opened. None of this needs the portal.
Four requirements, all of which must be met: Amasiri origin, one of fifteen supported courses, a recognised Federal or State institution, and demonstrated financial need.
Admission letter, letter of identification, academic records, proof of identity, and your institution's fee schedule. Photograph each in daylight and check every line is legible.
The document most applicants leave until last, and the one most often unavailable at short notice. Ask for it in the first week of the window, not the last.
Every notice — including your decision — goes to your email and telephone. An award has been lost before now for no reason other than an unreachable student.
Opening and closing dates, any change to the supported courses, and the date decisions will be issued are all published there before they happen anywhere else.
Tuition and prescribed fees are paid. Accommodation, feeding, transport and upkeep are not. Knowing this early lets a family plan rather than be surprised in the second term.
Nobody is authorised to collect money on behalf of IHEABATAMASIRI in connection with an application, and no payment improves anyone's prospects. The trust will never ask a student for bank account details in order to pay fees — fees are paid directly to institutions. While you wait
The portal will open on the date announced on the main site. Until then the eligibility requirements, the application guide, the fifteen supported disciplines and the full cycle timetable are all there in full — and the secretariat answers correspondence from applicants, parents and schools.
